Event Description
The Lean Construction Institute of Canada (LCI-C) is dedicated to transforming the building industry in Canada by changing how projects are planned, designed, managed and constructed, in all forms of project delivery. Lean principles, when used in construction, can help deliver projects more efficiently, while enhancing productivity and improving profitability throughout the construction project. Lean Construction has demonstrated its ability to minimize costs and maximize value for everyone involved on a project.
 
To help the Canadian building industry learn more about Lean Construction, and to foster a new culture of continuous improvement in planning, design and construction industry, LCI-C is pleased to offer the Lean Construction Certificate Program, developed by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
 
Module 3:
 
Lean Workstructuring is the first of two units that introduces the Last Planner® System (LPS). This system was developed by the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) to plan projects in a way that produces predictable workflow and rapid learning. This half-day, instructor-led course describes the process of Lean Workstructuring.
 
Following this course, you will be able to:
 
  • Apply the methods and tools utilized in pull planning
  • Describe the concept of Lean Workstructuring
  • Outline the desired outcomes of Lean Workstructuring
  • Describe the characteristics and application of the Last Planner® System
Module 4:
 
The Last Planner® System is the second of two units introducing the Last Planner® System (LPS).
 
This system was developed by the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) to plan projects in a way that produces predictable workflow and rapid learning. This half-day, facilitator-led course shows how to conduct makeready and weekly work planning sessions.
 
Following this course, you will be able to:
  • Apply the Last Planner System on a project;
  • Hold make-ready and weekly work planning sessions; and
  • Calculate, track and analyze percent plan complete for a project
  • Upon completion of all seven CM-Lean modules, participants will be qualified to take the AGC Certificate of Management – Lean Construction exam.

Format: One day (8 hours) of in-class instruction
 
AUDIENCE:
This course is designed for all members of a construction project team, including: Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Management, Owners and Support roles.
 
INSTRUCTOR:
Jim Johnston, P. Eng. is an Industrial Engineer, a member of the Lean Construction Institute and an Accredited Lean in Construction Trainer (one of only two in Canada!) with the Associated General Contractors of America. Jim is a construction, operations and quality specialist with over 20 years experience focusing on business process analysis & improvement, Lean thinking & implementation, strategic planning and business development. He has worked extensively as a Management Consultant & Trainer leading organizations through lean transformations, quality system implementation / auditing and process optimization projects. He has facilitated the implementation of Lean Construction on many projects and is currently involved in the continued development of the Lean Construction Institute – Canada.

COURSE REGISTRATION CANCELLATIONS, TRANSFERS & REFUNDS:

 

Payment is non-refundable for cancellations made within 5 business days of the course, or non-attendance on the day. Complimentary substitution of another member of your company is accepted. 

 

Substitution of attendees is permitted up to and including the day of the course.

 

COURSE CANCELLATION BY ICBA:

 

ICBA may have to postpone or cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment, in which case ICBA’s liability will be limited to a refund of the registration fee.
