Event Description

The Qualified Medical Gas Operator training will enable healthcare organizations to maintain, operate and trouble shoot medical gas pipelines. Designed to provide health care facility engineers and maintenance staff with the knowledge of how applicable CSA Group standards impact the design, maintenance, and operation of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems. Participants will gain insight into applying the Standard for improved safety on the job. 

 

This course will cover:

  • A review of the basics and how they apply
    • Knowing what is in your facility
  • What does day to day look like for a Qualified Operator?
    • Create, coordinate PM’s; SOP’s coordinate repairs; cylinder management; warranty inspections; compliance; documentation on work performed
  • What is involved with on-site production?
    • Focus on quality initiatives which is part of current and future Standards and is a standalone/significant topic
  • Keeping systems safe and operational
    • Interact with Qualified Technicians, bottle & bulk suppliers, installers, manufacturers, healthcare staff
  • Impacts of construction
    • Review/approve designs/work; agencies; manage upgrades to systems; compliance; participate in inspections; feedback on designs/work proposals
  • What to do when things happen
    • What are the roles? Risk Assessment; shutdowns/tie-ins, back up gases; agencies; documentation, emergency response programs including an understanding of how medical gases are used in patient therapies.

Learning Objectives:

  • Acquire a solid understanding of Z7396.1 - Medical gas pipeline systems, Part I 
  • Obtain an in-depth explanation of the technical requirements and how they relate to provincial regulations 
  • Learn about critical aspects of medical gas systems including sources of supply, monitoring and alarms, pipeline equipment, commissioning, and certification 
  • Understand real-world applications of the Standard through interactive and hands-on exercises 
  • In addition, this course serves as an effective study aid to help students prepare for the Medical Gas Piping and Systems (Med G.A.S) Personnel Certification.

Each Attendee participates in the live, instructor-led sessions via a dedicated desktop or laptop. Chromebooks, Tablets and Mobiles are not compatible to the CSA Group’s Webex Training sessions.

 

 

Duration:  One half day (4 Hours) of virtual lessons with an instructor.

Course Fee Includes: Access to the course, course materials, and upon completion a certificate, Z7396.1-17 Medical gas pipeline systems - Part 1: Pipelines for medical gases, medical vacuum, medical support gases, and anesthetic gas scavenging systems.

 

 

Prerequisites:

The General Med Gas Systems Online self-paced training course is required to be completed prior to the start of this session. 

 

It is also strongly recommended that participants read CSA Z7396.1, Medical gas pipeline systems — Part 1: Pipelines for medical gases, medical vacuum, medical support gases, and anesthetic gas scavenging systems

Cancellation &
Refund Policy

Cancellation requests received more than 14 calendar days before start date of the event will receive a full refund less a $100 administration fee. Cancellation requests received within the 14 calendar days prior to the event start date will be non-refundable.

 

Substitution of event participants will be permitted at any time prior to the start date. Please ensure that the substitute participant has met any prerequisite requirements.

Payment must be received in full before the event. CSA reserves the right to cancel any event and will, in such case, fully refund all registration fees. No liability is assumed by the organizers for changes in conference dates, content, speakers, or venue.
